Used to ensure bowls do not move whilst being measured, these are relevant to all forms of bowls. This pack contains three types of wedge to cope with different situations. Set of 6.
For judging dead woods.Beware - there are cheaper squares around, as we have found while trying to source these. However, you need one with a levelling bubble in the handle (to make sure you have the blade vertical) and you need one where the end of the blade is flush with the butt (most stop short, making it difficult to be certain you have the square in exactly the right place).
We've got it! The Rooney folding square - named after its inventor - has not been sold seriously for about 5 years. We've resurrected it, but we can only continue to sell it if the demand justifies the high manufacturing costs. It is mainly intended for shortmat bowls, but it could be used in other forms of bowls where an exact line decision is required. You place the square exactly on the line with the hinge roughly in line with the centre of the bowl or jack you are judging. Then raise one wing of the square to the vertical and this device comes into its own. It successfully transfers the horizontal line to a vertical plane that allows you to make the line decision with total confidence. My club captain is a retired shortmat umpire, with umpiring experience dating back to the founding of shortmat bowls in West Wales. In all his time in the game he has never found a better tool for making line decisions, and his enthusiasm has been the motivation for us resurrecting this product.
A 30m stainless steel tape, for measuring such things as mat to jack distance. With 3:1 gear drive, giving a fast rewind speed. Note rewinding is by handle, not automatic. 10mm wide stainless steel tape, high impact ABS rubber case
£27.00
A 30m fibreglass tape, for measuring such things as mat to jack distance. The tape is rewound using the fold-out handle in the centre. The casing is very tough - designed for use on building sites - so is more than adequate for bowls use.

Measuring pegs, 15ft maximum measure
The Rinklock is an 11ft string measure. Whereas the Supalock Gold fits in your pocket, this is a bit bulky for that. However, it's bulk actually makes it easier to use and that explains why you see it used at top tournaments. It comes in pale blue, and has a belt clip.
£18.00
The Drakelock is a 10ft steel measure. Some associations ban the use of steel measures, so be careful to check. The fans of steel measures believe they are more accurate, as string can stretch over time. It comes in a yellow case and has small calipers. Use the calipers for social bowls, but for matches we recommend vastly more accurate spring calipers.
£13.99
Our most popular measure, this is a 9 foot string measure, supplied with a belt clip and small calipers. Unique positive locking, very accurate and consistent. This is a new 2007 design, in a new range of colours.

A pen measure (acts as a pen as well as a telescopic measure), suitable for closer measures only. Not approved by all associations, so check that you can use it before buying

The approved way of measuring when things are tight. These are much better than the free calipers that come with some measures, because a) they are sprung and b) they are screw adjusted and they stay set. The little free calipers are prone to moving

The same high quality internal calipers, just a bit larger with 6in legs
