This is the glue we use and recommend for cue retipping.

Ordinary super glue tends to soak into the cue tip, and also can become a bit brittle with age, neither of which is good for a cue tip cement. This stuff is a gel which sets quickly, does not soak into the cue and does not go brittle. Use it carefully, though - it is still super glue. 

Tweeten make Elkmaster cue tips, so you'd expect them to market a cement to stick their tips on with. This is a highly regarded cement, marketed as 'Ten Minute Cement'. Our experience suggests that it can take more than 10 minutes to work, depending on temperature, humidity etc, so give it a bit longer. Apply the cement to both surfaces, leave until it becomes tacky. Only then should you stick the tip to the cue, and we'd suggest leaving it to stick for 30 minutes to be safe. Can also be used to mend other materials. 

Most pros use this as their tip glue. The brush makes smooth and even application a doddle, and the glue is designed for both wood and leather. Super glue does have a tendency to soak into the cue a little - to stop this happening just wet your finger a little before you apply the glue and run your damp finger over the end of the cue. Then glue it.

Make sure the tip and cue are clean, free of all dust and dry. Apply a tiny amount to one surface only. Use a tip clamp / tip fastener (the best is the boxwood and brass version) to hold the cue and tip while they set. Do not use for at least an hour.

Ideal for other uses as well, for bonding china, porcelain, most plastics, paper, card, metal, rubber, wood, leather and many other different materials.

Don't forget to take all the normal precautions that you would with any super glue (ie keep it off your person and be careful where you use it in case of any spillage). This is a 5g free-standing bottle, to be applied to one surface only. Follow the instructions carefully when using. 

A weighted keyring in the style of an 8-ball pool ball. The base consists of a domed abrasive area suitable for scuffing a cue tip. 

This is a very fine long handled file, ideal for profiling, shaping, roughing and reducing cue tips, as well as removing any excess cement. Go for a file that is any rougher and you stand a chance of damaging your beloved - and expensive - cue. It is about 6" long overall. 

This is a moulded piece of plastic that accommodates a small piece of sand paper. The shape is ideal for working tips into the correct profile and roughing them up to take chalk better. Comes with 10 extra small sheets of sand paper. 

This is a roughened composite material, where the centre is dished. This can be used to roughen or shape the tip, and its attraction to many people is its convenient size and shape. 

This item is very similar to the well known Supafile, but there are important differences. We stress that this sale is for one shaper - two are illustrated to show the pen clip on the back.

The sanding area is funnel-shaped, starting wide enough to easily accommodate a 14mm tip, then tapering down to about 10mm. This area is covered in fine emery paper and curved to make it easy to shape your tip correctly. Unlike the Supafile, there is no flat area of emery paper on the outside. There is a pen clip, making it easy to carry with you. 

The Supafile is carefully shaped to allow you to perform fine detailed shaping of your tip easily and consistently. Suitable for tips up to 11mm 

Holding cue tips in position with your fingers while they stick is messy, and can be dangerous if you are using super glue. This neat little tool holds the cue and tip firmly in the correct position while they are sticking. You place the tip on the cue, then slide the assembly into the groove shown, hard up against the end stop on the right. The loose nylon ring is then slid down the shaft of the cue until it is tight, holding the tip firmly in place. Check that the tip is still mounted centrally on the end of the cue and if it is, just leave it all to stick.

Suitable for tips up to 11mm
